Female-rider safety
The female-driver toggle is built for riders who want an extra layer of comfort and familiarity, particularly at night.
How it works
Switch on Female drivers only from the ride booking screen. Ryde will only match you with drivers who have completed our additional female-driver verification step. If no female drivers are available in your area, the app lets you know and asks whether you want to expand the search.
Night-time default
You can set the toggle to activate automatically after a time you choose (for example, 9 PM) in Account > Safety > Female drivers only. When the night setting is active, every trip after that time:
- Routes only to verified female drivers
- Automatically sends a live trip link to your trusted contacts
- Adds an extra ID check before the driver can start the trip
- Monitors for route deviations and alerts your contacts if any are detected
Female-driver verification
Verified female drivers go through the same PSV and document process as all drivers, plus an additional identity confirmation step. Their status is shown on their profile before you get in the car.
Your contacts are always in the loop
For any trip with night safety active, your trusted contacts receive the live link at the moment the trip starts, not when you remember to send it. They can see your route, driver, and arrival time without installing anything.
