NTSA and regulatory compliance
Draft for review. This page describes our compliance approach and must be confirmed against current NTSA regulations and our own licensing status before launch. Last updated: June 2026.
Ryde is built to operate within Kenya's transport and digital-hailing rules. We treat safety and compliance as launch requirements, not afterthoughts.
Driver and vehicle verification
Before a driver can accept trips, we verify:
- A valid Kenyan driving licence.
- A PSV (Public Service Vehicle) badge.
- A current NTSA inspection certificate.
- SACCO membership where required.
- National ID and a clear background check.
Documents are re-checked periodically and when they expire.
Digital-hailing licensing
Ryde will operate under the applicable NTSA digital-hailing framework. Our operating licence details will be published here once issued.
Pricing transparency
Fares are calculated and shown before booking and are not subject to surge. This supports clear, predictable pricing for riders and fair, transparent earnings for drivers.
Safety obligations
- In-trip tracking and one-tap trip sharing.
- An in-app emergency button that alerts responders and your contacts.
- A verified-driver network with re-verification.
Tax
We support KRA-compliant records, including monthly statements for Ryde Business accounts and earnings records for drivers.
