How do I become a Ryde driver?

Who can drive with Ryde?

Any licensed Kenyan driver with a PSV badge, valid NTSA documentation, and a vehicle that passes our inspection can apply. There is no minimum trips requirement to start and no onboarding fee.

Documents you need

• National ID (both sides)
• Driving licence (Classes BCE or equivalent for PSVs)
• PSV badge (from NTSA, valid)
• SACCO certificate (all PSV vehicles must belong to a registered SACCO)
• PSV insurance certificate (comprehensive, motor private hire or PSV)
• Certificate of Good Conduct (from the DCI, within the last 12 months)
• Vehicle inspection report (carried out at a Ryde hub or approved centre)

Vehicle requirements

• Model year 2013 or newer (subject to condition)
• Saloon, hatchback, SUV or minivan (no pickups or lorries)
• Roadworthy NTSA inspection sticker
• Working seatbelts for all passenger seats
• No major body damage
• Working air conditioning

How to apply

1. Download the Ryde Driver app and tap Apply to drive.
2. Upload your documents (photos are fine, must be clear and legible).
3. Our team reviews your documents as quickly as we can.
4. If approved, you will be invited to a vehicle inspection near you.
5. Pass the inspection, complete a short orientation, and you are ready to start earning.
